Underrated masterpieces

Jackson C. Frank: Jackson C. Frank [1965]

Jackson C. Frank [1943-1999] was an american folk musician

This is the original cover of Jackson C. Frank's selftitled album wich has been re-issued several times. It's the only album he released and his sound is very melancholic due to various bad experiences he had in the past. He sure is one of the most underrated artists of all time...

Read more about him in wikipedia

P.S: The song "Dialogue" is my favorite song ever though I listen to it rarely exactly because of it's incredibly melancholic sound...

This band needs no recommendations if you are a resident of a scandinavian country.

For anybody else the title means "I'm Selling Off My Soul! Everything Must Go!!!". This is bob hund's 3rd full-length album and it's completely different from the previous two. The sound is much more "mature" in this album and more rock 'n rolly. I would characterize their sound like "indie punk rock with krautrock influenses". Their music makes you so glad you want to jump around like an idiot.

Simply amazing album. Sometimes I wonder where do they get all that inspiration...

P.S.: Graham Coxon from blur is a fan of bob hund and has performed a covers in Swedish/Skånska in his solo shows. He also has a Bob Hund T-shirt, which he can be seen wearing in several press shoots.

Yawning Man

Yawning Man: Rock Formations [2005]

Desert rock from Palm Desert in California! This is their first album released in 2005 although they exist since 1987! I'll let someone else do the recommendations:

"Yawning Man was the sickest desert band of all time. You’d just be up there in the desert, everybody’d just be hanging, partying. And they’d show up in their van and just, mellow, drag out their shit and set up right about the time the sun was goin’ down, set up the generators, sometimes they’d just go up there and drink beers and barbecue. Sometimes it would be a scene; sometimes it would be very intimate. It was very casual and loose and everybody would like, while they’re playing, everyone would just lounge around. They were kinda like a house band. It wasn’t militant like Black Flag. It was very drugged, very stone-y, it was very mystical. Everyone’s just tripping, and they’re just playing away, for hours. Oh, they’re the GREATEST band I’ve ever seen." - Brant Bjork (2002)

P.S.: Brant Bjork is one of the more notable figures in the stoner rock and Palm Desert scenes. Has played in Kyuss among other bands.

This band doesn't even have a page in wikipedia so I don't have much to say about them. I was lucky enough to see them live 18 December 2009 in Athens. I had never really heard of them until then and got very impressed.. JUST BUY IT or download it or..... whatever just listen to it! They play something like math post rock in my opinion although on their myspace page it says trance/rock

Aera: Humanum Est [1975]
"AERA is a band from Germany who performs progressive fusion in the style of NUCLEUS, EMBRYO and DZYAN. Spacey guitar passages are the strongest characteristic in their music, as well as good flute and saxophone passages. They have 6 albums, of which "Humanum Est" is considered their best effort."—ProgArchives.com
