Peps Blodsband - Hög Standard [1975]

Let me introduce you to an album I got to learn from my parents and I have been listening to it since I was a kid. It's about a classic from the Swedish 70s, "Hög Standard" by Peps Blodsband. Peps Persson is the name of the bands mastermind and he is well known for his Scanian dialect.
Persson's career up to 1975 was mostly inspired by the blues, and Peps is known for having reworked many famous blues and reggae tunes into Swedish, by such artists as Muddy Waters, Elmore James and Bob Marley. After 1975, his career turned away from the blues and focused mostly on reggae. Some of his songs, like "Falsk matematik" and "Hög standard", made a political statement, and were considered part of the progg movement.
But why did I suddenly dig this album up? Well, the answer is because of the story behind the cover I found out about here
The cover shows the band members packjammed into the backseat of a car, a parody of a '75 Abba album cover. The Abba album shows the four members of the group dressed in luxury clothes sitting in a car drinking champagne. The members of Peps Blodsband look more like hobos. They drink coffee out of a thermo bottle and all other details of the Abba cover are reversed in a similar way.
Apart from all that, this album blends nicely blues, reggae and Swedish traditional music. Recommended!
